 Program Notes/Il Programma
Americus is a symphonic poem, in one movement. The work depicts a variety of historical moments in American history through several memorable original melodies – from revolutionary period bands to a Sousa-like march, from a salute to discoveries and pioneers of the West, to an immigrant folk song and dance, culminating in a joyous finale echoing liberty through fanfares and church bells. Americus is a personal and meaningful musical expression of remembrance, love and gratitude from one hopeful immigrant during a milestone American anniversary.
From the published score: Poema sinfonico in un movimento.
