Program Notes/Il Programma
Carosello (Carousel) was completed during Christmastime 2024. The work was inspired by a desire to write a piece of music focused on resembling merry-go-rounds, with the sort of melody that gives the circular sensibility of the childish rides.  Such a first attempt at depicting carousels was a passerby effect within the 2015 work Sea Fanfare, for the San Diego Symphony on the occasion of the centennial of Balboa Park. With Carousel, the entire musical composition remains connected to this charming momentary escape to a, much adored, bygone era. The duration is intentionally kept short to assimilate the duration of most carousel rides.
