Castelli in Perugia, & Venere e Adone in Philadelphia/New York

by | Dec 27, 2014

Di Vittorio completes Castelli for Ensemble Alberto Burri in celebration of the artist Alberto Burri centennial in Citta di Castello – Perugia, Italy. Castelli is one of six works commissioned from Italian composers that will receive their world premiere in March 2015 at the Burri Foundation, and then be part of a recording on the Limenmusic label.

The thematic material of Castelli was derived from the second movement (pavane) of Di Vittorio’s Sinfonia N. 4 “Metamorfosi” (in progress) entitled Venere e Adone, inspired by Titian’s painting. Venere e Adone will be premiered jointly by the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia and the Chamber Orchestra of New York in coming seasons.
